iDANCE helps fighting childhood obesity

UnitedHealthcare and Port Discovery Children’s Museum, Baltimore, USA, launched on June 21 “Kick It Up! Brought to You by UnitedHealthcare,” the museum’s latest permanent exhibit to help fight childhood obesity by promoting physical activity, wellness and prevention.

Designed as an indoor soccer stadium, Kick It Up! Brought to You by UnitedHealthcare is a unique exhibit that offers hands-on programs to get children’s arms and legs moving and hearts pumping. When children are not engaging in a friendly game of soccer, the field transforms into an interactive, electronic games arena where they can bike ride; compete in an “i-Dance off”; test their balancing skills; and play challenging games against the electronic T-Wall.

Children will also be introduced to traditional playground games such as hopscotch, jump rope and Hula Hoop, all of which provide physical activity with little or no materials. Healthy messaging through visually compelling, electronic signage in the exhibit provides helpful tips and facts on health and nutrition during play, and every child will receive a Kick It Up! Brought to You by UnitedHealthcare Playbook that includes game ideas, rules and fitness facts that families can enjoy at home.

“As a children's museum and a trusted community resource, it is our mission to be an advocate of one of the biggest issues today – the health of our children,” said Bryn Parchman, president and CEO of Port Discovery Children’s Museum. “We are proud to partner with UnitedHealthcare to develop this innovative exhibit that teaches children the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle in a fun and engaging way.”

“Kick It Up! is an interactive and engaging environment where children and families can experience firsthand that exercise can be fun,” said James P. Cronin Jr., president and CEO, UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual of the Mid-Atlantic. “Reinforcing the benefits of healthy lifestyles at an early age will set the right example for our kids and create a culture of health that will stay with them for life. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with the Port Discovery Children’s Museum to help our children live healthier lives.”

Positive Gaming is proud that iDANCE2 Multiplayer is a part of this amazing concept, thanks to our US master distributor, Motion Fitness.
